The official Royal Canadian mint has issued, and is selling, real currency coins to commemorate the 5oth anniversary of Star Trek, some in the shape of the Star Trek delta.
The irony, of course, being that the United Federation of Planets does not have a monetary system. Unless you count quatloos, that is.
What’s the exchange rate between quatloos and gold-pressed latinum?
Official exchange or “behind the bar” transaction? For the latter, just ask Morn and he’ll tell you the going rate.
Just had a thought: any connection between Morn and Cheers’ Norm? Name, size, loquaciousness, likeability, bar stool …
According to Wikipedia (“List of recurring Star Trek: Deep Space Nine characters”), yes, “Morn” is a deliberate anagram of “Norm” in homage to the Cheers character.
I’d say “who knew?”, but apparently everyone but me did.
Well, if they ever had a scene in which everyone at Quark’s shouted out “Morn!” upon his arrival, I missed it. So mark me down as “less uninformed”, too.
