RGB in pictures, Mars that is.

Andrew Liptak on io9 has pointed out that artist Travis Smith has posted a set of illustrations for Kim Stanley Robinson’s Red Mars, the opening volume of his Mars Trilogy (a Beamer selection over the course of a couple of years).  Inspired by the news that Spike TV is considering adapting the work for television, Mr. Smith decided to provide some character sketches, catching John Boone, “the First Man on Mars”, arriving at the city of Burroughs, and Nadia Chernyshevski working (while listening to Louis Armstrong) on the construction of the original settlement, Underhill.
