Jack Davis Takes Flight

Wired reports that long long long time Mad artist Jack Davis is boxing up his pencils at the age of 90. Slackard!

tzmadh4Davis just can’t meet his own standards. “I can still draw, but I just can’t draw like I used to.”

Davis was inducted into the Will Eisner Hall of Fame in 2003. He received the National Cartoonists Society’s Milton Caniff Lifetime Achievement Award in 1996. He was a finalist for inclusion in the Jack Kirby Hall of Fame in 1990, 1991 and 1992. He received the National Cartoonists Society’s Advertising Award for 1980 and their Reuben Award for 2000.

Wow, one of the founding artists for Mad Magazine retires. I guess all I can say is, “What, me worry?” Enjoy a long, happy retirement, Mr. Davis!
