Simon & Schuster’s New Science Fiction Imprint

Screen Shot 2014-01-20 at 6.30.40 PMIn October 2014, Simon & Shuster will launch a new speculative fiction imprint called Simon451. The first book in the imprint will be the first volume of a series co-written by actress Gillian Anderson.

Hmmm…

  • Dedicated to science fiction, fantasy, dystopian, apocalyptic and the supernatural
  • First book by Gillian Anderson
  • Named after the temperature of burning paper

Any predictions on the imprint’s success? Just asking. But maybe I’ll be surprised.

  1. Do they even still publish books? They’re so distant and closed off to so many. Don’t you agree?

    Nah, it’ll never work. 🙂

I did not realize what their logo was at first, thinking it a thumb drive. Not till I saw it in 3-color did I recognize it as a (match)book, with the nod to Fahrenheit 451. Still, according to Publishers Weekly, Simon451 is aiming at e-book originals and digital-firsts, so my confusion is probably by their design.

    • Actually, it looks like a matchbox, not a matchbook.
